Obviously everyone today is talking about the Assssscat monologue from the Del Close Marathon in which a man essentially confesses to raping a woman. As we should be. So let me take a moment to say this:

This man is not alone. He is part of a much larger problem. Because just like this man, many

I completely agree. Increased awareness with an open dialogue of the realities that woman face all around the world is a million times more helpful than a crusade against one guy. Everything one does in the dark eventually comes to light and I hope that this Eric fellow, really takes a look at his past actions and future ones. I hope that all men do.

I can see how a lot of the men in the community can also be overwhelmed with all of this talk of rape, rape culture but it’s what girls and woman deal with everyday of their lives. Everyday.

It is honestly just so mind-blowing when you sit down and just think about it.

I hadn’t planned on pulling over on the side of the road in Kansas to write about rape, but here goes!

This whole Asssscat guy doesn’t surprise me one bit. I bet there are lots of men out there who have raped a woman and don’t even realize it.  I’m probably friends with some of those guys.  I don’t blame them entirely because they’ve been raised in a culture that says women’s bodies are for the taking.  I haven’t ever been “raped” per-se, but I’ve woken up after being passed out to a guy (my good friend actually) trying to have sex with me (i.e. trying to rape me), I’ve been fingered as a youth in hot tubs at church pool parties by annonymous 13 year old boys who did NOT have my permission.  Sneakly little devils hid behind a bunch of bubbles.  I’ve had to fight men off for so long that I’ve almost given in because it was too tiresome to say no anymore, but thankfully, I held m
